Birthday parties

Since the girls birthdays are so close we always have combined parties. We do a separate family party and kids party. They were both very fun. The kids got lots of fun stuff at the family party. Whitley opened a card with money in it and freaked out! It was funny. She had no idea who the card was from since she didn't wait for anyone to read the card to her. She just saw the money fall out and started jumping and screaming! It was hilarious. They had tons of fun shopping with their birthday money. For the kids party we do a gift exchange. Everyone comes with a gift and leaves with a gift. This is the second year we have done it and we love it. It is nice because then we don't end up spending too much money on a bunch of small stuff that won't last long or is too much sugar for small kids to handle. We also do it because we have the combined party. Since some of the kids we are inviting are only friends with one of the girls I don't want the parents to feel obligated to get the other person a gift also - I know that I would get something for the other kid if it were me. Anyway, the kids all seem to like getting presents!
We made princess wands and played pin the wand on the princess.

Whitley went first and could see through the scarf so she did really well!

I doubled over the scarf so Michelle didn't get to see through and I spun the older kids so that made it harder but she got it pretty close.

I made the kids a Barbie cake. It was a lot of work but I loved it. It has been a while since I have really decorated a cake. I used to make these doll cakes as brides for bridal showers. I had fun with it and the girls were very proud of their mommy! I have to say though that I was very proud of me too!!!

Cute cake. The girls had a great time and enjoyed playing with their presents too. Thanks for the fun!
