Tyler's ears 2

As promised here is the update on Tyler's ears. A month ago we went to have his hearing checked and one ear was only borderline passing. There were a lot of reasons why his hearing may not have been totally passing at the time so they recommended to just recheck, which we did today. His screening today was totally normal. Now we know that hearing is not a problem and that his only issue is his verbalization. We know that he can communicate other ways, he uses a couple of signs, will nod his head, will bring things to us, or will point at what he needs. He just doesn't verbalize much yet. He has started trying to talk. Right now at 20 months old his speech is at the same level of an 8-9-10 month old baby just starting to talk. Because he had trouble with ear infections in the past he wasn't hearing well then. Now that he has had tubes to resolve the infections, his hearing is totally fine. During that time though he missed some basic building blocks in speech development. The next step is to get him set up in speech therapy to help him build a foundation that can help him with speech as he gets older. We have watched Whitley do so well with her speech therapy and so we are looking forward to how much this will help Tyler, especially with starting him at an early age. It has been so fun to see him as he is starting to learn some sounds and we can't wait to watch him grow more. It is so amazing to see your children grow and learn new things, as much as you want them to stay young, it is so awe-inspiring to watch them grow each and every day. Children are such an amazing blessing!

Sorry I couldn't watch your girls this morning. I'll have to stop by with my beads on Tuesday, so you know what I have. I can buy some too if needed. I think we need a new library day....
