It is Sunday morning and I can't sleep!! We are telling the kids about our trip in about an hour and we are both SO excited! We came up to Spokane yesterday as a trick and stayed here at a hotel right by the airport. We used the excuse that we picked this hotel for the indoor waterslide and the kids were happy with that. We got up here in the early afternoon and since the weather wasn't that great we went first to a store called Cabela's. It is almost to Post Falls, ID. My in-laws have been telling us about it so we thought it would be something unique and out of the rain. The kids had mixed feelings about crossing the state line into Idaho. We had some worry, anger, and excitement. Then we were told that since we already had them this far we better be taking them to Silverwood! We just laughed!
Cabela's was cool though. It is an outdoors store but in the middle of the store there is a huge mountain display covered with taxidermy animals, bears, deer, moose, elk, snakes, wolves, and tons more. It was cooler than I thought it would be. They also had an aquarium near the fishing stuff. The kids found a display of tents and enjoyed that too!
Then we went to the Valley Mall area and had dinner at Boston's, a great pizza place! Then, in search of a Disney store, we went out to Northtown, only to find out that there hasn't been a Disney store there for years. Oops! We made it fun anyway. After that the weather cleared up so we went to Riverfront Park and played on the big wagon and rode the carousel. We also saw 2 weddings going on along the river at the same time!
The most fun we had was when we got to the pool. We found out that we couldn't ride with the kids or be down there to catch them so Michelle was the only one able to go. Michelle and Whitley just finished 2 weeks of swimming lessons. Whitley didn't pass her level because she was just not comfortable enough to do the things she needed to. Michelle hadn't be very comfortable until last Monday then she was off! Yesterday at the pool, Tyler had just arm floatings, which made him nervous to begin with and ended up playing on his own in the shallow area! He did awesome! Whitley got comfortable enough to jump off the edge without anyone there and without grabbing the side of the pool on the way in! She was doing so great! She is officially comfortable in the water. Michelle started swimming underwater, tried doing front flips, touched the bottom of the pool at almost 7 feet, and went down the slide twice!! We were impressed!
I am sitting here waiting for our swimsuits to dry and for the kids to wake up. The suspense is killing me!! I just can't sit still!
Thanks for sharing in our excitement and for those of you who helped keep this all a secret!!
