Hospitals are NOT always bad places - Conragtulations Jason and Lisa!!

Today we went to Kadlec to visit cousin Lisa. She just had baby Lillie yesterday afternoon. Lillie was almost exactly the same length and weight as Whitley! She is a gorgeous baby! Mom and baby are both doing good, although Lisa is very tired after more than a day of labor and two failed epidurals. She said that they put in a total of three epidurals. The first one wasn't positioned quite right, it was straight in instead of curved, and the second one ended up getting a hole in the catheter, which gave the medication to her sheets so they were probably sufficiently numb but she was hurting! Poor girl, and this is her first baby!!
When we first got to the hospital, Whitley was really nervous but was trying to hide it. We had a talk about how hospitals aren't always scary and that the times she has gone there when it started out being scary it all ended up good. We talked about babies being born and surgeries being done to improve life and doctors ready to help people in emergencies. It actually took some convincing to calm her down. Afterwards I had told her that baby Lillie was born in the same hospital and even the same room that she was born in and that seemed to make things better. Guess I should have started with that part!! Oh well, a little late now!!

Poor Whitley. Who can blame her for being afraid of hospitals with all the things she's had to go there for? So sad. I'm glad that she figured out something good with it though. Now maybe next time it won't be so tough. Maybe....
